ok so i've taken the 1st segment of the cswp 3 times and i've done worse each time. i've been given the exact same part and i've been attentive to the demensions each time. is the test somewhat time sensative and is it possible that the virtual procter will malfunction?

You have to Manage your time and build the files properly, if not done correctly you will fail portions of the test. But most of all I think its very time sensitive... so honing your skills and managing your time will probably save you.

The CSWP is brutal. I mean really, brutal!

It's actually pretty simple, and that's the problem. It's a simple exam but it's set up so that one tiny mistake, can cause you to fail it. Because the questions build on each other and if your part is just a few grams off when you enter your answer from the mass properties you get zero points for that question. Zero points for a question in the beginning means zero points for the several that follow as well!

So the pass/fail rate seems acceptable at 30/70 percent or something I think, but it's for the wrong reasons, not because the exam is about right in terms of difficulty but instead the exam is hard because the exam structure is hard, not the subject matter or modeling problems. Which should be where the pass/fail rate should be judged on.

We don't want to discuss too many details about the CSWP in an open forum. Some of the issues you brought up have been addressed in newer versions of the test.

Are you coming close to running out of time? Are you triple checking the dimensions you entered? Are you making sure the answer you typed in matches the feedback given by SolidWorks? Does some geometry seem ambiguous such that you need to "guess" what they intended? Making assumptions?
