Hi All,
I have a query regarding Current Limiting reactor. In a 66/11kV substation with two transformers, is there any preference over voltage level the reactor should be placed? what are the factors that govern the placement of reactor? also can the reactor be installed in series with transformer LV. The argument for this is, the transformer impedance doesn't match so if we place one reactor in series with transformer LV it will lower the fault level and also balance the transformer impedances.
What are your thoughts?

It is usually cheaper to place whatever on the low side due it not needing to be insulated to the same degree.

If you can't explain it to a six year old, you don't understand it yourself.
