Please find attached picture.

I am trying to dimension around a curve which is broken into little parts and I have tried a numerous amount of ways to get the dimension to go from the very start of the curve (top) and to the bottom of the curve. So I have selected the length dimension tool and then hit ctrl on each part of the curve, after it does not give me the option to select curvilinear length dimension any more and it just gives me a horizontal or a vertical length. Please help this is driving me nuts.

If this is a projection from 3D, then join the curve in 3D with curve smooth (check the option to simplify geometry). You can also use the command Join and define federation (tangent cont. option I guess will do) but this might reveal the underlying full curve if your element is a trimmed curve.

When this is done in 3D, project in 2D to get full length curvilinear dimension.

try it this way:
1. click the length dimension icon first
2. select the curve
3. right-click on the dimension, and choose Partial Length and Offset
4. select the start point and end point
5. click the dimension location
