Custom Property in Balloon

Hi all,

I'm running SW2005 and have a need to create Balloons (mainly in assembly drawings) and reference a custom property field $PRPMODEL:"Detail_No". I understand how to do this manually, and I have set SW to automatically set the Balloon function to Custom Property. I have not found a way to automatically have SW point to my particular custom property field. I find that I must point the Balloon to the correct field in each instance.

I would like to possibly run a Macro to do this automatically, however, like the fist method I mentioned, this prevents the use of the Autoballoon function (I believe). I have tried a couple of macros with no real success.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

Have you thought about autoballooning, then going through and modifying the text (via macro) after autoballooning?

Evan,

I have considered this, although many of my users prefer to apply their balloons manually as they do not care for how SW applies the balloons.

I think the same process would work however. The users could apply their balloons and go back to redirrect them with a macro perhaps. Hmm, something to think about.

At this point, I am trying to minimize the need for "work-arounds" and make Balloon Macro function as much like the stock SW Balloon as possible. I envision my users simply running a Balloon Macro instead of the SW Balloon command and the Balloon simply pull from the Custom Field properly.

Thanks!
