I am looking to customize the hole callout function in NX 11 - I have searched around but not found QUITE what I am looking for...

We like to specify our threaded holes as decimal diameter-pitch, for example .375-16 UNC-2B, versus 3/8-16 UNC-2B. Is there a file that the hole callout pulls it's default information from that I can modify to achieve this? I have tried changing parameters in nx502_Threaded_Hole_Standard.xml in the UGII directory with no luck.

In your xml file, there is a Callout definition... Looks like you need to change this.

Editing the callout fields in that file does not work for me - the callout remains the same (fractional) on my drawing.

Make sure that you restart NX after making the changes. Also, your CAD admin may have moved the NX config to a network location so that all machines access the same file; it may be that you have edited a local copy that NX doesn't use. After starting NX, open the log file and search for the xml file name to see the exact file that NX is using.

I can confirm that it is using the directory that contains the file I am modifying:

UGII_THREADED_HOLE_STANDARD_DIR C:\Siemens\NX11\ugii\modeling_standards

I also came across this file:

UGII_ENGLISH_THREADS C:\Siemens\NX11\ugii\thd_english.dat

But modifying that also produces no results - anyone know what that one is for?

UPDATE:

If you edit BOTH of the files I mentioned above, and use the THREAD tool to add symbolic or physical threads, the callout appears as I would like. This is a little cumbersome, as it is way easier to use the hole tool, specify a point in a sketch, and select all of your parameters. Using the THREAD feature requires me to make a sketch/extrude of the hole with desired tap drill size, depth, etc. before I can use it.
