I POSTED THIS THREAD:

IN WHICH FILE ARE THE CUSTOMIZED COMMANDS SAVED. I WOULD LIKE TO BE ABLE TO COPY THIS FILE BETWEEN MACHINES BUT AM NOT SURE WHICH ONE IT IS. THIS WOULD BE THE EQUIVALENT OF THE ACAD.PGP FILE IN AUTOCAD.

AND GOT THIS RESPONSE:

Normally I copy both:

FrameConfig.CATSettings
FrameGeneral.CATSettings

this way I can get costumized shortcut keys, and icons in the right places.

I copied these files to another location then copied them back after restoring my settings. All shortcuts were gone!

Does anyone know of a quick and efficient method of storing and transporting these shortcuts.

Thanks

As this is free support & somebody gave you their answer for the settings files that are responsible for the location of icons you don't have much to complain about. It is apparent from your question that these files do not contain custom toolbars and buttons so why don't you find out for yourself an let the forum know.

Clear out your catsettings
start catia
do nothing except create a custom toolbar & button
Close catia

You should have a relatively short list of catsettings file one of which must contain this information.

The way this task is intended to be achived is to use admin settings to properagate this imformation to multiple workstations

i am sorry if my post seemed like a complaint it certainly wasn't one. i was just trying to explain in detail the history of my problem

i appreciate any advice i get on this forum and appologise for any offense which may have been taken

cheers

I have copied all my catsettings files to another computer but it also didn't seem to take the shortcut keys with it. I would also like to know this.

you should SHARE CATIA ENVIRONMENT over a network.

Read the online doc about CATIA ENV.

If it is too difficult for you to set up an ENV, then contact Dassault business partner for training or services. I am sure they can help you with this...

Here, we have the catsettings files on the server and copy them to the clients when the user want to start Catia with "standard settings" ("our" own company standard, not DS).
you might want to try to copy the following files:

FrameGeneral.CATSettings
FrameConfig.CATSettings
DialogPosition.CATSettings
DialogEditStack.CATSettings
FrameUserAliases.CATSettings

I noticed that those files were modified when I changed the outlook and added customized icons.

thankyou prolynx,

finally got to the bottom of it.

The user defined Aliases are here:

C:\Documents and Settings\your_name\Application Data\DassaultSystemes\FrameUserAliases.CATSettings

And not under

C:\Program Files\ DassaultSystemes etc.

Where I was looking.

The file doesn’t exist unless you have created at least one Alias.

Hope this helps the other person who was having problems
