cut fill to target elevations

i have a volume surface for which i have X cu.yd of CUT and no FILL. the max depth of cut is 21ft. i have 4 kinds of materials on-site: 0-2 ft is A, 2-4 ft is B, 4-10 ft is C and 10-21 ft is D. i want to divide the X cu.yd into each type. is there a way to do that with LDD, or even C3D?

w/ cadd 3D you can. create volumes to the 21', then slice at 2',4' etc depths and under inquiry do volume listing for the different depths.

thanks for the suggestion chicopee. do you mind elaborating it a little further? i can manage LDD but when it comes to Civil 3D, its a whole different story! thanks again

I am not familiar w/LLD, however with ACAD 3D,you can create 3D prismatic solids from dimensions obtained from the prismatic diagrams that you would develop from topography. I am assuming that you had a surveying course which normally goes into these cuts and fills projects.
When having created prismatic shaped solids to the 21' depth with ACAD, you can make several copies and then slice them with ACAD command to the various depths and then do an ACAD inquiry for their volumes.
What is LLD?
