Cut Out Advanced Utility 1

I'm trying to perform a Cut Out of one part from another, but my problem is the part that I want to cut out of the base part has a detailed geometry inside. So when I do the cut out from the base part I see all the inside geometry just the negative of it cut into the base part. Is there a way to perform the cut out and defining it to just use the outside surfaces. I've tried to make the cut out part solid, but that process would take to long due to the complicated geometry. Any ideas? Thanks.

Where is the Cut Out function? I've been looking for a function to do exactly what you're talking about in order to create a CFD model (Areas where flow takes place must be meshed) from an existing 3D Model (Parts which form the boundary for the fluid are solid).

You can find cut-out option in assembly, having command list Component - Adv. Utility - cut-out.
To extract the computational fluid domain from solid part, this is a excellent feature. What you have to do is, create a full solid dummy part. This you can create by copying the existing part and delete the other constructional feature so that you will get the full solid part. Then assemble the original part and this newly created dummy part. Then using above stated command sequence select the dummy part first as a cutout part and then select the original part as a cutter part. Select next prompts appropriatly. After cutout operation you will get the intended fluid domain.

Have you tried to create the cut using a quilt created as "copy geometry" from the part you want to use as reference.
Create first a "publish geometry" from the "parent" model and select just the surfaces you are interested in, followed by a "copy geometry" in the part you want to make the cut. Use that geometry to create a cut as: Create-->Cut-->Use quilt
