Hello everyone, is it necessary to use argon gas to cut 304 stainless steel? It is possible to use oxygen and then grind the edges. Thank you

Stainless steel is usually thermally cut with a plasma cutter and nitrogen shielding gas.

The devil is in the details; she also wears prada.
 
Abrasive waterjet works well for thick sections.

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand
 
I would consider nitrogen as the minimum and argon the optimum for plasma arc cutting. Neither are very expensive.
