I have a centrifugal compressor I modeled in UGS NX2. It's got 12 blades and I need to cut out one sector (1/12 or 30degrees) of the model that includes one complete blade in order to expedite meshing in Patran and solving in Ansys. I have tried positioning datum planes on either side of the blade but since it is a highly curved feature, I was unable to position a datum between the blades without intersecting one. What can I do?

Thanks

dsmestas,

If all you want is to export the data, create lines or splines that surround the blade you want to keep. Make it a closed loop and planer. Then extrude this shape so that is goes completly thru you compressor. Copy your good solid to another layer and then use SPLIT BODY the copied compressor and the newly created extrude.

I realize I need to do something of that nature but am finding it exceedingly difficult to draw the correct splines that will enable me to split the part up like I need.
