Regardless, changing the programming of that particular transmission isn't high on the priority list of most (any?) aftermarket tuners.

Sell the car and buy a VW diesel without the hybrid nonsense ... that'll fix it.

What Mike was saying is that the current calibration will include work-arounds for particular problems that were found during the development of the gearbox, and the vehicle. If you change the strategy then you will need to relearn all the things the Honda engineers already have learned, thus you will need to break as many (or more) units as they did.

Okay, so when you stamp on the accelerator, the issue is that it takes longer than you feel it should to change to a lower ratio? Is that an accurate description?

That could probably be changed by reprogramming the transmission, but as far as I know, there is nothing available to do that. Keep in mind that there is a limit to how quickly the transmission itself can change ratios.

The Civic hybrid is an economy car. It is programmed to be stingy with fuel, probably at some cost of responsiveness and driveability. If you want a better blend of performance and economy, I still stand by what I said before: sell the car and buy a VW TDI diesel.

Ok, does not have way to make it…, but you agree that if the ratio varied fast more, resulted in lesser acceleration and more speed, then better consumption. Correct? Thanks

Civic is a IMA parallel hybrid, what limits the accel I believe is mainly coming from the E-motor/Generator and the engine capacities. Depending on what performance that you are referring to, i.e There might be possible to booth the 0-60 performance with WOT on the ICE with the IMA full capacity assist. (Not sure if this is already implemented in one of the mode...)
