Cylinder head design in solidworks, help!!!

Hi!

I am trying to design a single cylinder head for a 250 racing engine.

I am using solidworks, i have make some drawing but i can not get good results.

External shape is not problem but i want to get all internal shapes (water cavities)

now i am trying to design all head shapes with surfaces and then use "thinken" operation to make a 4 or 5mm wall to all head but it is really dificult because solidworks give me erros when 5mm wall intesect with himself (very poblably).

Please any idea is welcommed!!!

Model the internal shapes (water cavities) as external solids
Insert and position them into the cylinder head part model
Use the Combine tool to create the internal voids
 
Also--you don't need to thicken your surfaces until you've got all your surfaces in place and knit together. If you like, you can apply the Thicken feature to a fully-enclosed set of surfaces to get a hollow solid or a full solid (see options within the feature.

You don't need to model your water cavities as separate parts. You can create them as separate solids in the same part file and then subtract them from the cylinder head.
 
Very true. The internal solid shapes could be created as a non-merged multi-body directly in the part, and then combined.

Also, if you are intending to machine the head from a solid block of material, then using regular cut-extrudes to simulate the machining process would give the required result.
