Cylinder liner fracture

In a 3200 HP diesel engine we have recurrent cylinder liner failures, they fracture in the angle between the body and the settlement zone in the block. We think the failure is related with deformations in the settlement zone in the engine block. Does anybody have known this kind of failures, their causes and corrective actions?

Thanks,

Javier

I'm not sure if I can help you out, but perhaps if I ask some questions a discusion will develop.

I'm unfamilier with the term "settlement zone". What do you mean?

I am guessing that the cracking is occuring perpendicular to the axis of the liner?

Can you tell us the engine manufacturer?

Good Luck
