Hi , I am looking for an actuator to work in a fire type situation for auto and manual control through a control panel
The actuator is to be both modulating when in auto and on/off(open/closed)when in hand at the panel
The actuator will be spring return and with power on it 24 V it will open fully, remove the 24 V it will close fully
With power on it, and 0-10 V control signal it will modulate it is position
Does anyone know they type I need..model number..??
I can only find on/off or modulating but not both

You can make a modulating actuator into an on/off with a couple of relays in the control circuit. You won't find an actuator with both modes of operation.

Dave,
If I take any mod actuator 0-10v and break the 0-10 v signal will I use the 24 v power supply to operate on/off ??

What kind of application is this for?
You mention a fire situation, do you mean a combination fire/smoke damper? a control damper to work as a smoke damper?
You would be controlling this damper from DDC panel during "normal" operation and then thru FACP during a fire situation? i.e. smoke?
Or is this a fire damper? can't be of course.

I think you may be complicating your controls to save a damper. I'd keep it simple - OPEN/CLOSE; START/STOP is best when it comes to fire situations. Firemen are not savvy to operate complicated dampers with multiple functions, they want simple ON/OFF type activation for ENABLE/DISABLE at the FACP. NO MODULATION FOR FIRE SITUATIONS

sounds like JHA should be consulted... modulating on a fire control doesn't sound legal... and mixing BAS functions with Fire control functions also doesn't sound legal. The fire alarm panel fulfills certain requirements for life-safety the BAS doesn't.

remp, that's correct. Use a set of relays to put either of: 0-10V signal, 10V, 0V.

Pay attention to HerrKaLeun's and cry22's notes.

Best to you,

Goober Dave
