Damper Actuators

Just wondering if anyone knows where I could find a design standard for sizing damper actuators.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your damper supplier should be able to give you a torque value to size your actuator to.

One rule of thumb. Your actuator shaft and your damper shaft should be about the same diameter.

Many things affect damper torque, so be sure to have a healthy dose of safety factor.

The problem is a long time ago there were rules of thumb for actuator torque - something like 25 ft-lbs per sq.ft. of damper face area. The problem is that damper torque depends so critically on differential pressure, air stream temperature, shaft bearings and blade edge seals.
