Datum display

Is anyone familiar with displaying datums in 2-D drawings. Specifically, if a datum axis is defined in the model ("set datum"), and placed, for example, "on feature" on the I.D. surface of a hole, the datum shows up in the drawing views that are "end on" to the datum axis itself (drawing plane is perpendicular to datum axis), and appears "anchored" to the hole I.D. But what if I want to include another instance of that datum tag, say within a dimension, i.e. on the ext. line of a diameter dimension of the datum hole given in a cross-section? Going to the cross-section view and modifying the datum properties to "in dimension" alters the feature-anchored tags in the other views and they disappear.

How can I just get a tag with "plunger" anchor into the diameter dimension?

Any help is appreciated.

For instances like that I just created my own datum symbol that can be placed on a dimension.

The Help for this program was created in Windows Help format, which depends on a feature that isn't included in this version of Windows.

Thanks. I was afraid of that. I guess "tag on datum" will get the tag in multiple views, but I am under the impression that tag attachment directly to the axis itself (and directly to the cross-hairs in end-on views) is not technically correct. Don't suppose it matters all that much.
