DC motor controller

there is a DC motor where the speed is controlled by a DC motor controller linked to a plastic extrusion machine.it rotates and winds the pvc tubes in rounds.recently the motor is giving some shock like behaviour. and the controller was checked for errors.we found that the output current gives a pulse. can anybody explain why?
