DCS or PLC emergency call out system

We have a small asphalt terminal that uses hot oil for heating. Truck loading is controlled by a small DeltaV system that receives an exception alarm whenever a hot oil heater trips. We are wanting to add the ability to have a text sent to select personnel whenever a heater trips out. DeltaV / Emerson doesn't seem to have such a call out function as part of their system thought they could send along the exception to another system. Anyone familiar with a system that can accept an exception output and then send out a configurable text message to select numbers?

Sensaphone has many different models available that can do dial out phone calls, text, email alerts via phone line, satellite, cellular, or whatever site communications you have available. Have seen many of these used in server farms and PBX centers to do offsite alerting. Very flexible, reliable units.

Please, do us a favor and ask Emerson for a quote for your system and come back and tell us what it is. I'd love to know what something so simple in today's technology costs the DeltaV guys as a option.

Unitronics has economy PLC's that can do this in unistream/unilogic - text or email - and the software is free, you just pay for the hardware.

There are also a lot of HMIs that can do that for you. Often that even makes more sense as it can watch the important displayed outputs and alert you to issues as if you're standing in front of them. They are also PLC agnostic and as such can be added to any PLC installation.

Thanks guys, working with Raco now on options. Too scared to even ask DeltaV what there package cost. The current one is too limited but if they come out with the iphone App based reporting / control version they are rumored to be finalizing, that may make it worth the money.

This will do what you want....and available now (summer 2017 anyway)....and offers much more than just alarming...
