Hello

Can anyone help me with this:

I am trying to evaluate our chemical ( demulsifier) efficiencies at different production stations and Oil recovery efficiency as well. Could you please advise if you have any resources calculating such parameters ( equations used and details of calculations?

Kind Regards

I often think people get confused between efficiency and effectiveness.

So first work out what it is exactly that you're measuring or looking at?

Is there some measure you want to achieve or is it simply a graph of amount/ cost of emulsifier versus amout of oil recovered. Or do you need to meet some minimum discharge level for oil in water?

Hi

Thank you for your response. I actually looking for ways to evaluate the performance of a demulsifier in making separation improvement of water from Oil and minimise oil losses base on daily oil/water production, BS&W and salt content. In other words, i want to build a model in excel to see if our facilities is doing well in terms of oil recovery during the primary separation and washing process on monthly basis.

Best Regards

Many corrosion inhibitors used in oil/gas facilities work in the reverse direction (to maintain stable emulsions) and hence make it difficult to enable satisfactory L-L separation. Plant operations staff are usually trained to be more concerned with corrosion than with environmental protection and often, they'll over dope the fluid stream with corrosion inhibitor at the expense of downstream L-L separation quality.
