do you have to do anything to the block to de-stroke an engine

Destroking an engine typically doesn't require cylinder block modifications. Crankshaft will have to be modified or replaced with one of a different stroke, you will have to compensate for this with connecting rods of a longer length, or pistons with a lower piston pin height.

Just curious:why are you de-stroking? can't get it to the ground, or are you simply wanting RPM's?

De-stroking is often done to fit an engine into a racing class displacement limit.
