Dear sirs,
Im setting 01 phase recloser for 220Kv transmission line which connet to the hydraulic power plants of 160MVA. I set the dead time for 01 phase recloser about two seconds. Is It any effect on power system? Is the dead time very too long?
Thank you for your pay attention in advance.

Usually, single pole reclosing on HV lines would be a high speed process - measured in cycles rather than seconds. Synchronizing power will continue to flow on the unfaulted phases between the generators and the interconnected system during the single pole open condition, so some time delay might be acceptable. The delay should be no longer than that necessary to allow the arc products of a transient phase-ground fault to dissipate

At that voltage level you would normally need to base the setting on the result of a transient stability study that verifies satisfactory operation. Make sure that you model the effect of an unsuccesful reclosure on the system operation.
