Dear all;

does any one know crude oil sales specifications that should be achieved?
I am talking only about maximum BS&W% and salt content in sales crude oil.

This changes depending on what are the specs for crude oil transport and the specs for crude oil purchase by refineries. This may change from one place to another. The most common figure I have come across is maximum 1.0% for crude oil purchased by refineries, whereas for transporting companies the percentage may go up to 3% or more.

Basic Sediment and Water is a ballast for crude oil - it adds no value (i.e. by purchasing crude with 1% BS&W the purchaser loses ability to turn 1/100 of crude volume into products he can sell), and it also incurs processing costs (settling on storage, dewatering/desalting, wastewater management, corrosion in crude distillation units etc.).
