Dear Expert,

Kindly advise for the below concern

I have one WPS qualified by API 1104
Welder is Qualified by ASME section 9(GTAW, GTAW+SMAW)

our scope is pipeline welding as per ASME B 31.4(water line)
can I use this welder for pipeline manual welding using the WPS which was approved by API 1104,

If there are any restrictions during the qualification of the welder(means any acceptance criteria for RT), please let me know

Up to you really.

When were these all done is one question (i.e. are they in date?)
Welder was qualified to what exactly? Using which WPS?

You really need to employ a welding engineer to tell you or take responsibility.

What sort of inspection is planned? - Usually the first weld can be sued to qualify the welder to the WPS, so long as that WPS has been qualified by testing.

Qualification criteria is as per the welding code.

Remember - More details = better answers
Also: If you get a response it's polite to respond to it.

Dear Sir,

Our scope is 1 km pipeline carrier pipe welding(water line), and the remaining portion is RTR piping.

We have available WPS that was qualified by APII04(21st Editon) and Welder was qualified by ASME section 9(ASME section 9, 2021)

My Question is, Can I utilize this welder for pipeline Welding

Kindly advise, any conflict between API 1104 and ASME section 9,
which one is more Strigent for WQT
