Dear Experts,
I did post below in corrosion frum but n respond. May you guys shade some lights and provide your idea and experiances.

SSC test as per NACE MR015/ISO 15156 is not required as long as the material comply with the requirement of Clause A.2. Table A.2 listed a few pipe material and clause A.2.2.2 Pressure vessel plates (P#1, Gr. #1 and 2) are specifically stated to comply with the Clause A.2.1. Means they are resistance to SSC.
HIC test recommended for flat rolled products (e.g. Plates). Because of this most clients asks for CS restricted chemistry.
In our project we have a very restricted chemistry for sour services materials like low sulfur less than 0.003% and others elements, fully killed, Vacuum degas, Sulfur shape calcium treated mainly as per NACE 8X194 recommendation for HIC resistance CS.
It looks the NACE requirement for HIC material is much more stringent than SSC.
Considering all above we have ordered Pipe material API 5L X52 and passed HIC test but in SSC it failed.
For our case API 5L X52 is a NACE listed material and expected not to have any issue in SSC test and for HIC the requirements were implemented. It was unpredictable get SSC test failed results.
Did you Material and Corrosion experts faced with same problem in the past?
What would be the main reason for SSC failure?
Is there something going wrong in test or does we need more restriction on X52 chemistry or manufacturing process recommendation?
Is that mean the NACE recommendations for SSC qualified material may not work all the time and we have to ask for SSC anyway for region 3 of NACE sour services?
Thanks
