I have a condition where the deck joist are fastened through the wall sheathing and into rim board with a hanger. The hanger has been specified as recommended by the Simpson technical manual for Hanger to Rim board.

Is there an issue with this detail regarding deck away. In my opinion the sides of the deck are connected to a return beams which are connected back to the building. I believe the return beams are addressing the balcony away.

One thing to keep in mind is that the IRC requires that the deck has to have "hold-down tension devices" installed to prevent deck away. Not sure if you're on the IRC (or even if you're in the US), but it's worth looking into. For the 2018 IRC look at section R507.9.2. These tension devices usually mean the Simpson DTT1Z or the DTT2Z. Basically the beams going back into the building are not enough.
