Hi,
we are facing a pump seal leak problem, Pump seal have elastomer rings by KSB germany for our deethanizer reflux pumps, we used Mobil Jet Oil II as barrier fluid instead of vendor recommended barrier fluid ''Klüberfluid NH1 4-005'' Mobil jet two have same properties as vendor recommended one.
I'm curious to know about mobil jet oil II may be getting diluted with propane and butane and losing its properties and damaging the elastomer rings.
Can any one explain bit on this issue/
Thanks

It sounds like you have a plan 52 ( unpressurised ) seal cooling arrangement ?

it is a pressurised seal (external pressure is more than internal pressure).

In a pressurised double seal ( plan 53) , barrier fluid would always leak into the process fluid, so there is no danger of barrier fluid in the seal pot or recirculating barrier fluid losing lubrication properties or cooling capability due to reverse contamination with C2 ?

Barrier fluid leak outer side not inner side, I repeat my question again, we are using Mobil jet II barrier fluid instead of Klüberfluid NH1 4-005.
Klüberfluid NH1 4-005 was recommended by vendor (eagleburman),
Thanks

Just switch the seal elastomers to Kalrez. That will fix any compatibility issues. Then if it is something else you will know.
