What makes a prismatic? It appears that perhaps this means "not tapered" but I'm not sure about that.

OK, after hunting through several books I think I found the answer ==> prismatic = constant cross-section.

A "prismatic" beam is a beam with constant EI across its span. Also prismatic cross section is "a cross section that is symmetrical and is constant".
