Hey guys,

Im designing a fall arrestor system and wondering what value you would use for deflection?
Do you go with L/120 or L/180?

If I was falling I would want L/120 to soften the G's.
Can't imagine why that matters too much but I assume OSHA has some requirement.

I don't believe there are necessarily serviceability limits for fall protection items. I've always been told when using these are if stuff deforms and requires replacement, but it saved the person's life, then it was a successful design.

Seconding Jayrod. I've never seen a specific serviceability limit for fall protection. Whatever deflection you expect does get factored into your fall height, of course.

It doesn’t really matter. How are you assessing deflection anyway? Point load? Energy approach?
