Deformable parts are not compatible with other features such as holes, pockets, etc.

The deformable part utility seems great. Except it won't work on parts with holes, or any other features. That limits what you can use it on. I'm designing a plastic part with a simple latch arm that bends. I need to show the latch arm in 2 positions: straight and bent. I think I'll try creating the 2 positions on 2 different reference sets, since it's not an option to make it a "deformable part."

Can you provide at least a picture of your model and indicate how it's going to be deformed? I ask this because I'm not sure what you mean by holes and pockets not being compatible with the Deformed Part function.

I have an image and prt file ready to attach, but this forum won't let me attach files. I don't have a URL available to post photos at this time. I tried to paste a hole onto a deformable part, and the error message reads "Paste Feature. Features can not be applied to the body of a deformed component." When I first saw this error message, I took this literally, and thought that features and deformable parts were incompatible, but since then I've tried adding a hole from scratch (without pasting it from another part), and it appears to work. So I realize now the title of this thread is incorrect. Features and deformable parts are compatible... except when pasting in features. I still can't my current project, a 60-feature, already-designed part become a deformable part. Defining the deformable part seems to work as normal, but then it gives the "Unable to Paste" error message when adding the component to an assembly. Not sure why. But at least I know now, that it's possible it could work if I re-create it from scratch. Thanks for your response.
