Is it possible for something like an o-ring to be deformed from its natural round shape to fit into a square groove or an irregular shape? It may be used for providing a seal of a lid to a box, for example.

Yes, in the case of an O-Ring the best approach is to create the original model using a small circle sweep along a large circular path. Then when you define the "Deformable" Component you leave the large circle out of the definition, which means you will need to supply a path in the Assembly. Then in the Assembly, create a curve representing the center-line path of the O-Ring groove. Then, when you add the O-Ring Component, you'll have to select that center-line path when prompted.
