Hi All,
First time poster. I am looking for a valve to suit my purpose. However, I am unfamiliar with the different terminology with regards to valves (asides from general knowledge, check, butterfly, degas, breather)
Perhaps someone here can point me in the right direction?
It is a small project:
I have a vessel that requires a small vacuum (by simple means vacuum cleaner, or a wine vacuum pump). My first prototype used a degas valve I acquired from a coffee bag. I fixed this to a wall of the vessel. This allows air to be removed from the vessel with ease, but it is one way. The vacuum is good enough to make opening the vessel difficult, thus I also had to attach a simple relief valve. The degas valve is a good size/shape and operation for my purposes, but the addition of a separate relief valve is not desirable.
I am looking for a less intrusive design. I would like a one way degas “coffee bag” valve that has a push button to allow manual release of the vacuum.
I have looked at breather valves but they “breath”.
Another household valve I noticed that could work is the wine vacuum plug. These are used to remove air from an opened wine bottle. Although too big in size they operate the way I’ve described. Suck out, push button to release vacuum.
I imagine this simple small valve exists, I just don’t know the name of what I’m looking for.
I hope this isn’t too trivial for the forum,
Thanks for reading,
Rostopher
