Deionized Water from Air conditioner

Hello Friends.

The water that drips from air conditioners can be called "Deionized Water" ?

Any opinions are appreciated

No,It is my personal opinion that

unless and until the complete route,consing environment& the container receiving are free of any salts or ionic contaminants.

It may be called fairly low T.D.S.& electrolyte containing water

(as it is from water vapors re-condensation; but not absolutely ion-free)

Agree with 786392.

The cooling coil itself has impurities on it and the water runs down the surface of it to the pan or drain. Also, the condensed water has the return air blowing across it, which also adds unknown contaminants. Finally, the pan it falls into before hitting the drain is often a very dirty thing. Mold, dust, and the precipitates from a long duration of dripping water. Many of those precipitates are salty.

It is still very clean stuff, but I wouldn't drink it.

Be careful of what is in the air from which this condensation is coming. Some of it will be in the condensate. I once had the same idea and found out too late that the condensate had tannic acid in it absorbed from the air that passed through the evaporator coil. It made the condensate unusable for our purposes, but we didn't find that out until after we had paid for the system to collect and distribute it. It was a hard lesson.

Don't believe that there is any standard for deionized water water, so condensate would probably qualify as deonized. There are some technologies to produce water using this very same method.

Note the air filter, the ozone disinfectant, and the effluent filter. You will also have to disinfect the water (risk of legionella) and it will contain any other air polllutants as well.

It hardly seems like it is worth the hassle to try to do this. Distilled water is very inexpensive.
