These large split case pumps have plain "babbit" journal bearings front and rear. But in the rear in addition there are Ball type thrust bearings. The O & M manual is very vaigue on this subject.
We have pumps that Oscillate in and out axially up to 1/2".
The thrust bearings have been replaced but some how they continue to move in and out freely, inside the bearing housing i assume.
What is alowable or typical of a splitcase pump shaft?
Has anyone dealt with this problem?
