Dear All,
I'm trying to evaluate a method to design rectangular flange "according" to ASME PCC-1 and ASME VIII Div.2
What value should I use for pre-load the bolts in Service Criteria and Global Criteria for Elastic-Plastic Stress Analysis ?
I'm trying:
W = max(Wo;Wgs)
Wb = 1.5W (bolt pre-load, the value 1.5 concerns about the assembly efficiency)
P.S.:
1 - I guess the value Wg is MUCH conservative (equation 4.16.6 of Div.2)
2 - I have used the inquiry case 133/PD 5500, ASME PCC-1 Appendix O and EN-1591 (the last is so complex) to define this method.
