Design Feature Boss - Confusion

Greetings,

In using the Boss feature, there are times when this feature works smoothly, and other times, I am not able to position the boss exactly where I need it. I have a cylinder body and wish to put a Boss feature on one of the faces centered. Can someone help me with understanding how the position commands work?

Select point on point

pick the edge of the circular face and choose the arc center option.
