Design Guide/Literature for Change of Use/Retrofit of URM Buildings 1

Hi Eng tips,

I'm looking for recommendations on literature/design guides that pertain to retrofitting/strengthening of URM buildings as well as implications with respect to changing the use within the building.

I have always wondered (and generally defer to architects) for change of use related questions. What i've been trying to understand is when a change of use would trigger a structural issue/consideration.

I understand that a risk category change would trigger a global upgrade but what if the say an old URM building once was used as a warehouse but now to be converted to an office space.

any guidance on where to start looking would be great.

Once you know what kind of analysis you need to be doing then you can look a methods for retrofitting/strengthening. FEMA has some good guides for URM.
