My company is now at the stage where we are building up a collection of models and drafts and looking toward implementing a system to manage it all.

So I was just wondering what systems/methods are people currently using to manage/revise their design data, their experience of it and why that system was chosen?

Any information will be greatly appreciated.

We just have a secure folder that stuff is moved to once released/eco.

This requires lots of use of revision manager to keep links etc, and historically this apparantly hasn't happened as the folder is riddled with broken links.

This system sucks for the amount of files we have, 20-30k.

We tried implementing Insight, the 'free' PDM tool that comes with SE but by that point we already had all this messy data and no one allowed for cleaning it up properly so that went no where.

We were looking at a PLM package, probably teamcenter express, last year but we've had some poor financial results and changes in management so that's going no where.

In fact, we now have a bunch of users sabotaging our entire CAD/PLM efforts because they want to use the CAD system they had a previous employers, not have to learn SE (sorry, rant over).
