I am a Civil engineer and have been involved recently in design of surface steel penstock for a project. Given the layout of the penstock it is obvious that anchor blocks and saddle blocks will be required. However, since I am new to this I have surfed through the internet to get some good books for its design but with no satisfying result. Could anybody help me with this. I came across Indian Standard code for its stability analysis and its very confusing to me, it may be because I am not familiar with fundamentals.

So kindly help me. You may kindly recommend me good e books with links if possible along with the name of the author. You may refer IS 5330 which is freely available for download if you google search. I am basically confused about the various forces acting on the pipe. In addition to this I haven't got a clue about the design of saddle blocks and why is it required?
