Design of calming baffle in gas-liquid separator

Hello all,

Can anybody point me to any references for design of calming/stilling baffles in two phase separators? My particular application is for a horizontal separator, to even out the flow profile in the liquid directly beneath the inlet device, before it flows into some internals.

Mainly looking for recommended pressure drop ranges for this application, and an established method for calculating the pressure drops given baffle geometry. Any hints appreciated!

Do you mean something like the famous Schoepentoeter?

Or something like this?
If you google "shell in;let device separator and click images about a dozen different versions turn up.

Just ask a vendor.

Or give us a drawing / sketch of what you mean?

If you've got two phase flow coming in then whats wrong with a baffle plate?

Remember - More details = better answers
Also: If you get a response it's polite to respond to it.

I mean something like shown here, labelled as "perforated distribution baffle".
