hi all

i ask if i can use only design temprature for keeping the operation save on a drum ... or its a must to but in consideration BOTH design temperature and pressure , i mean if the design temperature is reached and the design pressure is not - am i still in safe side ?

Not sure if I understood your question, but I will try to answer based on what I think the question is. You need to confirm for which vessel temperature the design pressure corresponds to (it is not always the case that maximum/design pressure relates to maximum/design temperature). So, if the maximum/design pressure corresponds to maximum/design temperature, everything is fine. If design pressure corresponds to some other (lower) temperature, then pressure of the vessel should not exceed certain value which is below the design pressure.

If you have the vessel material properties known, you should be able to calculate the maximum allowable pressure based on the actual temperature and see whether the safe limit has been exceeded.

If the drum is AT the design temperature and LESS THAN design pressure, you are good, but just barely.

Technically, the glass is always full - 1/2 air and 1/2 water.
 
@ Momoeng,

1. Design Temperature (DT) = Max Operating Temperature (MOT) + Design Margin.

2. Design Pressure (DP) = Max Operating Pressure (MOP) + Design Margin.

The material of construction (MOC) and the thickness of the equipment is specified considering DP and DT in conjuction.

So, even if you reach the design temperature when the system pressure is less than the design pressure or vice versa, you are safe.

Having said that, please check the MOC properties for the corresponding equipment thickness for arriving at the actual values.
