Hi,
Can anyone tell me a procedure to design an Equal Tee?
The client has been asked us to consider proof test according to MSS-SP75 rely on actual ultimate strength. So i performed an Elastic-Plastic FEA according to ASME viii-2 but the Tee will shakedown because of the high proof test pressure.
Note that design pressure for run pipe is 1400Psi but calculated proof test is 4400Psi.
Thanks in advance for your attention.

Please provide more information such as dimensions, materials of construction and the maximum operating temperature.

Recall that MSS SP 75 is the standard United States specification for high-test, wrought, butt-welding fittings which covers factory-made seamless and electric fusion-welded carbon and low-alloy steel butt-welding pipe fittings for use in high-pressure oil and gas transmission and distribution systems.

This is for ambient temperature design systems ...

Remember, that the rules of MSS-SP75 typically apply to pipe fittings with an OD of 16" to 60". ASME B16.9 applies to smaller diameter piping

MJCronin,
Fitting size is 56'' and material actual ultimate strength is 100ksi (api 5L X65).
Design temp. Is 185F.
And The hot tap Tee is going to produce from 1.125'' plate.
