Hello Everyone,

I ran in to a problem defining design strips for Raft foundation perpendicular to shear wall, usually i provide column strip at L/4 on either side of the column. Is it the same for the Shear Wall?

will this shear wall act as a Hollow rectangular section?

I have attached an Image for reference, Can you please review it and let me know whether i am on a right way.

I haven't done one for a while, but used to treat them as a regular column in the weak direction and totally fixed in the strong direction. Also with the floor plate, used to provide added 25M bars in the bottom of the slab at the shear wall... just to address any added punching shear at the 'sharp' edge.

Rather than think climate change and the corona virus as science, think of it as the wrath of God. Feel any better?
