I am currently working on a project for a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle fueling station in Japan and have a local company working with us to handle KHK certification. For background; the system is a self contained compression, storage and dispensing unit. The storage system includes a water deluge system per KHK requirements for hydrogen which is intended to protect the vessels for fire case. For the storage system we are using approved high nickel 316SS per KHK requirements.
The local company brought up a new requirement where we need to set a heat detecting device to activate the water deluge system at the stated design temperature of the vessels (75°C). The vessels are protected via PSV's for fire case.
My question is two fold: 1 - has anyone else experienced this requirement where the water deluge system needs to activate at such a low temperature and 2 - is the design temperature for KHK the same as ASME BPVC?
Thanks in advance!
