desktop 5 external threads??

In mechanical desktop 5, I am trying to figure out how to represent an external thread in a model, and have the thread show up properly in the layout. I assume autodesk wouldn't have left out external threads. Is there at least a way to add the hidden lines to a view and append the lines to the view for the proper format to represent the thread?
