I am not familar with AR 360. I know this is abrasion resistant plate however I can't seem to find any data on the ASTM # or chemical/physical properties. Does this material have an ASTM number?

The web site below might be of help. This is from the International Steel Group regarding their Grades of abrasion resistant plate, also under the family of T-1 steels. Find the Specification on Type C Grade 360.

AR plate is a generic term for abrasion resistant plate made by many companies. The excellent link above gives a good coverage. Depending on your needs, there are many other plates that offer higher hardness ( 360 is the nominal Brinell hardness ) and also superior impact resistance, weldability, forming, machining etc, and usually at a cost premium.

As macmil says "AR" is usually a generic term for abrasion resistant plate and the "360" is the Brinell hardness.

In most cases these steels are not made to a "standard" but according to the specifications of the steel mill that produces it. "360" used to be a common figure, but in a lot of cases that has been replaced by "400", although 450, 500 even 600 are now available.

Typically the steels up to 500 are low carbon, low alloy steel (frequently Boron treated), produced as plate, quenched and tempered during the rolling process.

Search for the Swedish Steel "Hardox" web site for useful information.
