Hello friends,

I have a question about an outdoor unit. Usually amount of refrigerant to be weighed in for a new unit is specified on the nameplate, however, in my case it is not (blank). Tried contacting the distributor, but all he could say was fill until 65 psi, not more than 10 kg. Not very exact... Are there any ways to calculate the amount of the refrigerant to be added to a new unit if no official value is provided?

Here is a picture of the nameplate.

you have to know the volume. That's the only way to calculate it.

For a short line the unit may come with enough. but the only way to know is to charge with the appropriate subcooling or superheat per manufacturer.

Would setting the subcool (this is a TXV unit) starting from empty not take too long? How much would you pre-fill in order to run the compressor?

It isn't empty from factory, you just field-adjust to account for line length.

fill slowly. if you are experienced you can start faster and slow down as you get closer. This isn't something you learn on the internet. you also need to be EPA certified to handle refrigerants.
