Im currently using a power meter to track power consumption of different machinery. When the power meter is installed you can perform a wiring check with the meter, but theres a problem with large cabinets. When hooking up to a large cabinet that has many differnt transformers and power supplies in it the wiring check can come up either good or bad depending upon whats running at the time. With no current flow of course it cannot determine the correct wiring arrangment either. Please help!

It's either hooked up right - in which case it should read correctly all the time, or it's wrong.

There are many ways to hook it up wrong. You have to consider phasing and polarity for all current and voltage inputs.

Without more information, it's hard to tell you how to proceed, but I'd suggest reviewing the documentation you have available and perhaps doing a Web search for the type of meter that you have and see if you can get some hints.

Does this thing have clamp-on current sensors? Make sure these are all pointing in the same direction.

without load you are kind of in trouble with your current value

you always have to check that your voltage are abc
and your current (plus the power factor difference)
but if you don't have load you have to pray that all wire are mark correctly
