Ok, so I know nothing of corrosion besides when I was a kid and I'd leave my bike out in the rain and I'd end up with a rusty bike and coincidentally teased later on because of it...

With that said, I'm looking for help determining what type of corrosion I'm seeing on these tin plated copper contacts for a motor that I have.

The contacts are submerssed in a hydraulic fluid (Pentosin CHF 202) and were originally soaked for 1000 hours @ 150°C. After we saw the tin layer flake/bubble off, we decided to lower the temperature to 125°C.

I'm trying to determine if it's sulfur in the hydraulic fluid reacting with the copper, or if it's something completely different.

I've included a picture of the (what I would call) corrosion.

The photo lacks depth. Is the surface riddled with pits?

Sorry, I didn't take the photos.

Yes, the majority of the contact surface is riddled with pits like that in the picture.
