DEVLON - NYLON 1

Hi,

Can somebody please help me with the following question?

We are replacing the standard Nylon seats for new Devlon seats in 3" Ball Valves #600. The Devlon seats have been produced at a local company.

The Devlon seats looks and feels the same as the Nylon seats. So now we are in doubt.

Can anybody explain the difference between Nylon and Devlon?

Devlon-V is Polyamide-Nylon

Good for max temp of 311 Deg F

and max pressure of aprox 6000 PSI

Colour is Yellow

Characteristics
- similar high performance levels as S grade, but has been specifically tailored for high temperature/pressure applications
- especially low moisture absorption improves dimensional stability
- particularly suitable for offshore applications where weight saving, non-corrosive and impact wear properties are imperative

Typical applications
valve seat inserts, clamps, bundle spacers, rollers, bearings

Devol says Devlon is proprietary. Their standard Devlon products

come in several colors for identification, but they also custom produce stuff in other materials, including nylons.

If the seats you got are natural nylon color, they're probably not standard Devlon, but may be nylon, or something else, produced by Devol, who presumably have the right to affix the Devlon tradename to any product.

You might ask the local shop for a copy of the shipping document for the material they used.

Devolon looks promising, we find it has better abrasion resistance than UHMWPE, with a much higher temp limit.
