Can someone tell me what types of stainless steel can and can't be used in a DI water system (resistivity > 15 MOHM)? The application is makeup water for a steam humidifier.

Go to the site for the technical paper you need. Try the paper on stainless steels for the process industries. I have seen ASTM tp 316 or 316L used on DI water. I would preferably use a thermoplastic such as ABS . see to reduce the risk of corrosion and the cost of installation. The majority of RO and MF modules are constructed in ABS. See US Filters (Memtec) designs.

We have SS 304L Or MSRL (MS rubber lined) for most of DI water (resistivity > 10 mohm) piping in our plant. Have also used SS304 or HDPE piping at few places. Hope this helps !
